School Closed

Parents/Guardians,

Our teachers and students have been working very hard in getting our virtual schoolhouse up and running in cyberspace. As I monitored students in our Google Classrooms throughout the day, we had a snapshot of 273 students working in 18 different classrooms at 9:45am and another report of 52 students working at 2:58pm (still) in 19 different classrooms! I must share that I am extremely impressed by the innovation and effort among our teachers to deliver the high caliber of instruction in this online environment that our students are accustomed to in person. Our teachers are using every instructional tool available to engage and connect with students across the internet. I encourage you to take this opportunity to model a love of learning at home by reading with your child and exploring new topics together as a family.

As you likely know, Governor Murphy has signed an executive order to close schools for a minimum of two weeks beginning March 18th. Therefore, Milltown Schools will be closed beyond the one week in my original notice according to the Governor’s order. I will await further guidance from the state, and reassess at that point how we move forward with our school calendar and delivery of instruction.

Since our teachers and most other staff are working remotely, access to our school buildings is limited at this time. So, please contact the school principal if you need to gain entry to the building for any reason.

Thank you and be well,
Dr. Stephanie Brown
Superintendent
