Dear Parents/Guardians,
Given reports of the recent advancement of COVID-19 into our region, Milltown Schools will be closed to students on Friday, March 13, 2020. School will be open as usual on Thursday, March 12, 2020. Teachers will use this Friday as an in-service day to finalize plans for online and alternative instruction that may be implemented as a means to continue learning if the situation warrants an extended closure for health concerns.
Currently, we have no reported health concerns by staff or students that present symptoms related to COVID-19. Our custodians have been routinely using a proprietary blend of a special disinfectant meant to reduce the transmission of illness in schools. We will be using Friday for a thorough cleaning of each classroom. Please be reminded that our district policy accepts a parent note to excuse a child for illness up to 9 times before a physician’s note is required. State chronic absenteeism has different reporting requirements, and should not be confused with district policy.
I will continue to monitor circumstances in surrounding districts, and I am working closely with the Spotswood Superintendent as well. As there is a potential for school closings in the near future, please make plans for child care. I will communicate as new information becomes available.
Thank you for your patience.
Be well.
Dr. Stephanie Brown
Superintendent
