Happy New Year!

Welcome Back! I hope you had a wonderful holiday with your families. As we usher in the new year we will be focusing a lot of our time on mastering multiplication and division. We will work on finishing up our "How to" writing pieces and zoom in on using verbs within our writing. Our science unit will focus on the study of weather and climate. The students will love to learn about how clouds form and the important role the water cycle plays in our weather. This month we will be reading a fiction story, Extra Good Sunday by Beverly Cleary to learn about character traits. We'll also read a non-fiction story, Aero and Officer Mike to help us practice author's purpose and main idea. Both of these selections can be found in our Journeys textbook. Please make sure to keep a look out for information about our multiplication ice cream challenge that will be coming home this month. Our kick off date is on Tuesday, January 16 with the facts of 3. If you just spend ten minutes a night practicing you'll be amazed at what you can accomplish!
